"Precious" Movie- Piece of Black Art

Tyler Perry and Oprah presents... "Precious"- The Movie- A Piece of Art

I just received one of Tyler Perry's emails from his message board. He always sends updates on what he's doing or what he's grateful for and this one proves to do the same.

It talked about how he and Oprah will present a movie by Lee Daniels titled "Precious". It is a movie based on the very moving novel "Push" by Sapphire.

The Publisher's Weekly stated in parts about the novel, PUSH by Sapphire:

"...first novel, told from the point of view of an illiterate, brutalized Harlem teenager...Obese, dark-skinned, HIV-positive, bullied by her sexually abusive mother, Clareece, Precious Jones ...is pregnant for the second time with her father's child. (Precious had her first daughter at 12... Referred to a pilot program by an unusually solicitous principal, Precious comes under the experimental pedagogy of a lesbian miracle worker named, implausibly enough, Blue Rain. Under her angelic mentorship, Precious, who has never before experienced real nurturing, learns to voice her long suppressed feelings in a journal...."

If you know anything about Sapphire its of profound and moving words that allow you to relive your past pain but become redeemed from them as well.

I've always said: Our Past, Our Future
"We all must face our past in order to see our future. Without dealing with both, even the present doesn't exist." ~ Tina Phillips

When I saw the trailer, I knew this was a piece of art. It features Mo'Nique and Mariah Carey as celebrity starring roles. Also Mary J. Blige sings in the background as part of the soundtrack. Check it out here.
