Black Industrial Designer Honored at Smithsonian

Have you ever wondered who designed the View Master (a 1960s 3D viewer with the sliding disk of photos)? Ok, what about lightweight sewing machines or plastic garbage cans with wheels or over 750 products like radios, fondue pots, cordless shavers and hair dryers? So, do you give up? Well, this is a man who is considered "the invisible man" and he is.... Evanston black industrial designer and teacher, Charles A. Harrison

African American industrial designer Harrison's work has given him the recognition and as honored him the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt,  which is the National Design Museum in New York. The award will be presented to Harrison on Oct. 23.
