Collecting Black Art with Walter O. Evans

"Collectors Roundtable" gives us an inside view of the world of art collecting. These collecting sessions provide a forum for experienced private collectors and for those just starting to collect to learn from acclaimed experts.

Walter O. Evans is one of the country's collectors of African American art. he is a retired surgeon and he made is first major purchase in 1979 from a serigraphs portfolio by Jacob Lawrence: "The Legend of John Brown". His collection has grown to over 500 pieces of art from artists like Bearden, O. Tanner, Catlett and many others. Many pieces of his collections have been have been exhibited in over 40 museums in the world.
