April Banks' Oakland African American artist at Guerilla Cafe
I just got news about an extraordinary bay area black artist from my hometown, Oakland that is doing some great things in Cali. I visited her website and viewed all of her work. Oakland is known for many extraordinary black artists and African American art. I especially liked the her "Chocolate" series which was on display as the "Free Chocolate" exhibition at in the city of San Francisco, Ca.
Now she'll be doing a piece for Guerilla Cafe' in Berkeley. Her name is April Banks. This is what her opening reception is all about and described as:
{"crushed" is an installation of manipulated paper by Oakland artist, April Banks. She uses crushed, torn, sewn and folded paper to create undulating and amorphous forms.}
Guerilla Cafe will have another one of their 'cafe originals' for African American artists and here are the details:
