White House Change to Cultural Arts Theme

White House Change to New Cultural Arts Theme

I read in the SF Gate Newspaper today that President Obama and First Lady Michelle are planning to make some changes in the White House decor and to its cultural history as we know it.

Our First Lady is rumored to start hosting some hip and stylish entertaining events in the East Room very soon on a ongoing basis. These events include jazz concerts, author readings, poetry jams and more. Some of the attendees may include 'Earth, Wind and Fire, rappers, playwrights and pop stars.

Wine is expected to be served and Lady Michelle Obama expects those attending to "have fun and be loose."

The President and Lady Obama also plan to change out the White House's art collection as well. They have been said to be contacting and inquiring about art collections. This is what the Wall Street Journal states:

The Obamas are sending ripples through the art world as they put the call out to museums, galleries and private collectors that they'd like to borrow modern art by African-American, Asian, Hispanic and female artists for the White House. In a sharp departure from the 19th-century still lifes, pastorals and portraits that dominate the White House's public rooms, they are choosing bold, abstract art works.

How wonderful. A Change is Coming- has come. Can you imagine people of color having their works of art displayed in the White House? I love it. And you should too.
