Young, Black and Artistic: 15 Black Artists on the Rise and Making Waves
The beauty of art is that
it's constantly evolving and being pushed to new heights with each new
generation of artists. A crop of young black artists, in particular,
deserve to be on your radar, adding immeasurably to the artistic dialog
with their unique visions and techniques. We've already covered under-appreciated black actors as well as some of the greatest black fashion designers, but now it's time to show some love for talented young visual artists.
Hailing from Nigeria to Tennessee, ranging from sculptors to
photographers, these 20 to 30-somethings are well on their way to making
names for themselves in the ultra-competitive world of visual art. Some
have been blowing up for a while now, others have been getting
attention at prestigious art fairs, and others are being selected for highly publicized events like an art exhibition curated by Shaq.

In fact, making the art is
the enjoyable part. But creating great art alone is not going to pay the

money to live and being a "starving artist" just doesn't
cut it.

My good friends over at Jamaicans.com have a great website full of black artists from Jamaica. I have subscribed to a great Jamaican newsletter at Jamaicans.com and I always get the best and freshest black art news on whats happening at the island to its technological world.
They do so much in the line of exposure for not only Jamaican artists but black artists they do business with. they are very informed and forthright about African American issues and how African American artists are affected.
I received information about some new posters they have advertised.
I checked out the website and there's some great posters and black art work of Bob Marley, Landscape, Beaches and People.
If you like Jamaica and its culture of black art, see what wonderful things they have.
It will literally make you feel like you are right there soaking up the sun and love of Jamaica.

African American Artist Selection Program for Gallery Location
Many of you wanted to know nnore about getting qualified for being a selected black artist for ExViGalleries.
Well we have complied a process in five phases. This is what you should expect and follow if you are interested in being an artist for ExViGalleries and the African American Artist Selection Program.

Phase I- Review of black artist web site, credentials, press coverage and itinerary
Phase II- Select top 20 African American artists and schedule phone/in-person meeting
Phase III- Top 20 African American artists will receive questionnaire & essay materials
Phase IV- Last In-person interview conducted
Phase V- Artist selection time and contract reviews
*Reception: Ex Vi Gallery-Black Artists Recognition & Reception
*All Black Artists that pass Phase One upon approval of our Founder, will receive an email of consideration for Phase II.

Economic Recession Tried to Kill Black Art Gallery Opening
Many of you know about us from ExpressiveVisions.com since 2005. We have been through many changes since then. Our goal to open our African American art gallery back then was scheduled for Fall 2008 and then it was pushed back.
Our website dedicated to black art and black artists is temporarily down for maintenence and a new interactive look and functionality. It will reopen soon.
Well, life happens and with the slow economy, we had no choice but to postpone it. Many of our affiliates and other black artists encountered struggling impacts due to economic stress as well. This is our time to re-focus our plans and we will all meet in the middle very soon. This African American art gallerywill come to pass.
We know many black artists and friends contacted us with concern. We truly appreciate your concern and prayers. The dream of opening an African American gallery is not dead just delayed. So, with that being said, it will happen.
